Is Datastore the ‘Life Hack’ of the Architectural world?
In an age where life is so busy and as a result people are so ‘time-poor’, words like ‘anxiety’ and ‘stress’ have become part of everyday conversation. People in all career-types, be it business executives, company directors or stay-at-home parents, are resorting to ‘Life Hacks’ to cope with the ever- increasing demands of their careers and lives in general. Anything that eases the workload and reduces the stress can be a welcome relief to individuals and businesses. In 2017 KCC Architectural, a well-known player in the construction and architectural
world, spoke about their genuine desire to create systems and processes that make life easier for their clients. Steve Young, New Product Development director for KCC, is constantly working with the internal and external teams to create innovative solutions to clients’ needs and to create increased efficiencies internally by streamlining internal processes. Working with clients in architecture, construction, quantity surveying, engineering and facilities management over the years made KCC realise that there was a common desire for a straight-forward, simple and reliable working partnership that would allow their clients to feel reassured and ease their workload all at the same time. With this in mind, KCC created ‘Datastore’, a unique and unrivalled system comprised of a vast database of every single KCC product, which is publishable as individual datasheets and is available as a project specific catalogue that includes images, performance characteristics, dimensions, options, finishes, test evidence and warranty information. This development by KCC has been of huge interest to construction professionals and architects in particular, as it eliminates a large chunk of the workload from their already hectic schedules, allowing them to concentrate on other aspects of their work, while also giving them the reassurance that everything being used has been tried and tested, is fully compliant to current legislation and meets the appropriate performance and fire/smoke standards. Effectively all the architect has to do is send over their project drawings and the KCC scheduling and estimation teams will do the rest, with the help of Datastore.
